I LOVE OKINAWA
The moment I took a bite, my beloved Okinawa came to mind.
Its clear, brilliantly blue sea, and the Tida—the sun—so hot it feels lethal.
And time passing far more slowly than it does in Tokyo.
Ah, Okinawa.
My mind had wandered off to Okinawa, but what was it that I had eaten in the first place?
It was pineapple from Ishigaki Island.
And not just one kind—a tasting comparison of two varieties of pineapple.
One had white flesh and tasted of coconut.
The other was an incredibly sweet, fully ripened pineapple.
Since they were Ishigaki pineapples, both could be eaten right down to the core.
Thank you for the wonderful treat!
The other day, a guest from California said, “Japan has a beautiful island called Okinawa, so why do so many Japanese people want to go to Hawaii?”
According to this person, once you discover Okinawa, you find yourself wanting to go there rather than Hawaii (^^)v
It would be a problem if it led to overtourism, but it would be nice if more people from overseas could discover the many good things about Japan.
