Welcoming a Large Gourd

Welcoming a Large Gourd

Saito, the hair salon in Ichigaya that our fifth-generation owner deeply admires.

The other day, we received a large gourd from the salon.

It is said that placing a gourd in a restaurant makes it a guardian deity of the establishment and purifies the air—or rather, the atmosphere.

Mr. Gourd, we look forward to having you help ensure that our guests at Yahata Sushi can spend their time here in a pleasant atmosphere.

It must stand some 80 centimeters tall. We placed a bottle of hand-sanitizing alcohol beside it for comparison.
This is the salon inherited from Ms. Aguri Yoshiyuki, known from NHK’s serial drama “Aguri.” Paintings and works by the owner, who is also an artist, fill the space, giving it something of the atmosphere of an art gallery.
